Outdoor fabrics

In Exotan's garden furniture collection, different types of fabrics are used for the outer fabric of a product or cushion. A distinction can be made between supple, soft fabrics and flexible, sturdier fabrics. It is important to know which fabric your outdoor fabric is made of in order to use the right care products. To extend the life of the outer fabric, Exotan recommends treating the fabric regularly with Exotan® Care maintenance products.

Acrylic and solution-dyed fabric

The newest outdoor fabric in Exotan's garden furniture collection is acrylic and solution-dyed fabric. This is a high-quality outdoor fabric with a luxurious look and feel. The fabric feels supple and soft and looks like an indoor fabric, but can easily withstand various weather influences. A special coating makes this fabric dirt- and water-repellent. As a result, water or other liquid substance remains on the surface and does not soak into the fabric. This fabric is also UV-resistant, which means the cushions will not discolour. Cushions with an acrylic and solution-dyed outdoor fabric can be left outside for the whole garden furniture season with confidence.

Acrylic and solution-dyed fabric is low-maintenance. Nevertheless, stains may appear during the season. We recommend removing these stains immediately. This can be done simply by washing the covers in a hand wash at 30˚C degrees. Stubborn stains can be removed with Exotan® Care fabric cleaner (ECP530). After cleaning, we recommend treating the fabric with the Exotan® Care fabric protector (EPC730) to re-impregnate it. Read the instructions before use.

Different weather influences can also cause this protective layer to fade. We therefore recommend applying the protector several times a year to a cleaned fabric. This provides an extra UV filter and slows down the adhesion of dirt.

For an optimal result, use the Exotan® Care srub pads (ECP450-P) for cleaning and the Exotan® Care application cloths (ECP456) for applying a protective layer.

Agora Senda® / Agora Panama®

Garden furniture fitted with Agora Senda® or Agora Panama® outdoor fabric looks like indoor furniture, but can be left outside for the entire garden furniture season with confidence. This high-quality fabric makes a product low-maintenance and provides a luxurious look. A special coating makes this fabric dirt- and water-repellent. As a result, water or other liquid substances remain on the surface and do not soak into the fabric. In addition, this fabric is also UV-resistant, so the cushions will not discolour.

Olefin

Olefin is a supple outer fabric made of stretched polyester thread. Cushions with olefin generally feel a little finer and softer. Olefin cushions with a standard foam filling cannot be left outdoors. Always store these cushions immediately after use in a dry place away from sunlight. This prevents "weather" or mildew from penetrating the cushions.  Olefin cushions with a filling of fast dry foam or Quickdry® foam can be left outside for the entire garden furniture season with confidence.
