Wood

Exotan has different kinds of wood in its collection. Garden furniture made of wood has a natural and warm appearance. Below you can read which types of wood the Exotan collection consists of.

Acacia FSC®

Recently Exotan has also added products made of acacia FSC® to its collection. Acacia FSC® is a natural product. Due to various weather influences, stains and hairline cracks may appear in the wood. This does not affect the construction of the product. In addition, the wood may discolour. This is inherent to acacia wood. Because acacia FSC® has a lower oil content than teak FSC®, this type of wood requires more maintenance. We therefore recommend that you maintain this wood properly. By treating it regularly with Exotan Care® Hardwood Oil (ECP900), the warm colour is retained and the life span is extended. Prior to treatment we recommend cleaning the garden bench with Exotan Care® Teak cleaner (ECP250). Stubborn stains can be removed with this.

For an optimal result, you can use the Exotan Care® scrub pad (ECP455-P) for cleaning and the Exotan Care® application cloth (ECP456) for applying a protective layer.

Teak FSC®

Teak FSC® is the best known wood type in the Exotan collection. Most of the wood products are made of teak FSC®.

Teak FSC® is a natural product. Due to various weather influences, stains and hairline cracks may appear in the teak wood. This does not affect the construction of the product. In addition, teak may discolour. This is inherent in teak. In order to retain the warm teak colour, we recommend that you treat the product with Exotan Care® Teak sealer (ECP300) immediately after purchase. If you prefer to let the product turn an even grey, treat the product with Exotan Care® Teak protector (ECP320). This protects the product against dirt and prevents stains. Stubborn stains can be removed with Exotan Care® Teak cleaner (ECP250). After cleaning, we recommend protecting the product again with Exotan Care® Teak sealer (ECP300) or the Exotan Care® Teak protector (ECP320).

For an optimum result, use the Exotan Care® scrub pad (ECP455-P) for cleaning and the Exotan Care® applicator (ECP456) for applying a protective coating.
